In these chaotic times, all units are pushed to the front line …

Some frightened boys look anxiously at the horizon … They see the enemy approaching, a horde of tough Churchill tanks …

A nco, an east veteran, tries to reassure his troops … Hold tight kameraden, we have some good stuff with us, to “shrek” those brits …

The “beach defense company” had some 88´s in nests, a veteran antitank platoon, a stug platoon, and some tough tigers to support them with (armor as reserve). The formation paks 40´s were held in reserve.

Some minefields were placed in front of the enemy’s nearest objective on the enemy’s right flank, the enemy’s left flank was bocage territory, that was mostly avoided by the enemy…

On the opponent left side 1 recce platoon bold move put me in trouble… The faraway objective was only defended by some mortars and one 88… I had to trigger the ambush to try to get rid of this problem! The ambush only destroys one tank! 2 stuarts are now abble to assault and have a good chance to take the objective!

They assault the heavy mortars, but when they try to push forward they fail the motivation test… Then is my time to shoot with a 88… 2 hits, and…2 bails! On the start of the turn the stuart´s crews fail to bail in, and decided it´s time to leave the battlefield.

On the opposite side of the table, the advance was led by US paras, who tried to remove a minefield, failed for the first time and suffered with mines and mortar fire … After a couple of turns they succeeded, but they had so many casualties that the survivors leaved the battle…

Meanwhile, 88´s and infantry were being hit by artillery fire, not doing much damage but succeeding in pinning down…

The Churchills horde approaches and starts firing at the grenadier platoon that defended the closest objective, managed to pinn the platoon, but failed to destroy much…

But well, time is running out … A Churchill PLATOON makes the first assault … The churchill´s kills some grenadiers without having losses, but fail the motivation test to push forward with the assault…

Meanwhile, in turn 5, my 2 armored reserves arrive on the battlefield. Luckily they arrive were they were most needed… They boost the moral of the grenadiers, indeed, but failed to do any damage on the enemy…

Two more turns of Churchill´s assaulting follow, and in the final round they displace the grenadier platoon from the objective, but another platoon was close enough to hold it. …

Time runs out, the enemy is close to the objective, but doesn’t control it… So it’s a draw after some tough fighting against some tough armor, but nice gentleman who acepted his bad dice rolls with great gallantry …

The battlefield...
The Stuart´s menace stopped by 2 bails...
US paras used as cannon fodder...
Minefield gone (as well as the US paras)...
The Churchill´s close in...
A (very) contested objective...

Thaks! Here I see everyone using 15cm diameter disks, so I did the same. And yes, making the minefields less CD “lookalike” in on the todo list!)

Nice report. Why the huge disks for minefields. Why not just put down a token?
